Drabbles. The Tiny Story from A Large Imagination.

The Page to find the drabble stories.

To those new to the concept of drabbles: A drabble is a story in one hundred words. According to Wikipedia the drabble first appeared in sci-fi fan fiction in the 1980s and the name came from a Monty Python sketch. A challenge for all budding authors to tell a story with brevity while still maintaining interest.

The exact number of words – exactly one hundred, including title – makes the drabble the toughest form of storytelling. Not all association members enjoy the drabble (see the bottom of the index page) because of its challenging nature. Written quickly, read in seconds and can leave you desperately wanting more, or extremely unsatisfied.

I cast a challenge to any budding writer, give it a go. Face the challenge and, if inclined, send us the result and we will happily post to our website.

Hope you enjoy ours.

I wrote the introduction to the page.

Sounds tough but I will give it a go.

Not on your life. Nigel, the posted ones are ok but left me wanting.

Sir Skinyboy:

Not in any lifetime. My stories cannot be limited by wordcount.

Phoebe:

Maybe but I doubt I can use so few words and still keep the story coherent.
