Keir Starmer is desperate for Power.
The British People need things to change. They need a Government that will start tackling the problems the country face. Sir Kier Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party says he is that change.
If he wins power will anything change?
The main change will be the fucking Tories will no longer be in power.
The current Government has been in power since 2010. They will argue that every new Prime Minister makes a different Government but when they are all from the same ‘pile of shit’ party the only change is nuance.
Sir Kier is praising Margaret Thatcher now in a desperate hope to secure more votes. Those over forty will either hate her or love her for what she did in the !980s. When I first read the headline this morning I could feel the anger at Sir Kier birthing. Now, an hour or so later, I think that if it means the Conservative party get voted into oblivion, it is not bad.
What have the Conservative Party ever done for Britain? They have bought growth and wealth, a low tax economy (until the last few years) and……nope cannot think of anything else. They must be a great party if you are already wealthy, or aspirational enough to be independent and successful. But if you are struggling, or in the lowest echelons of society, they have done nothing but add to your burden. A political Party should run the country for all the people not just the few.
The conservative instinct is cut spending on services when the economy is struggling and when we are booming just raise budgets by inflation. Over the cycle that generally means cuts. Back in 2010, they bought forth austerity, cutting budgets. Post pandemic, and energy inflation they cut again.
When workers demand better pay and conditions, they see debate as weakness and reach for legislation to make strikes illegal, or as near as they can. They resist every policy that benefits ordinary people.
To say I hate Conservatives is a little strong. I detest the elitism, selfishness, and obsession with money that they stand for. But I do not hate people. If you want to vote for Conservatives, your choice.
On the political spectrum I am to the left of centre. A proud working class man who believes in democracy – though not the system that currently runs this country – and a Government that rules for all the people.
Businesses should make a profit, and take the loses – not cry to the Government and want bail outs. If you live by capitalism, you should take the rough times.
The welfare system is there for when work is unavailable – it is not a lifestyle choice. Everyone able to work, should. Retraining and education should be free at the point of use for life. As should health care – illness is not a choice. Yes, people over eat, smoke, drink more alcohol than they should, and take drugs (illegal and legal) when they should not, but that should not deprive them of health care. The health system should be preventative as well as reactive.
People should feel secure. The Police should be well-funded, as should the justice system. You should not have to plead guilty because you cannot afford the legal fees. If you are found guilty of a crime and sent to jail you should serve the full term handed down to you. The judge heard the case, heard the evidence, passed sentence, that is the time you will serve. Life means life, thankfully we have abolished the barbaric death penalty.
Do I want a Government that reflects my views?
Of course I do. But I do not expect one. I am one, we are many. Just because I am a proud working class man, it does not mean all other proud working class people feel the same. The same applies to whatever box you think you are in, or society places you in.
Finally, that brings me to Sir Kier Starmer and his Labour party. I don’t think he wants me to vote for him. If he knew that every time I have voted Labour they have lost, he would probably tell me to stay home.
For me, it is either Labour or the Green Party. In the locals I voted Green. I am weary of this New, New Labour project. Like the Blair years before a lot makes me uncomfortable. Yes, Tony Blair invested in public services but he gave welfare to those in work. Nothing wrong with that, if business profits pay for it, but they did not. By supplementing wages it gives the lead that not paying a living wage is right. If business paid a living wage, the shocks of sudden inflation or cuts in welfare would not have such a dramatic effect on people’s life. The message should be: pay a living wage to all your workers or all business will be taxed high.
That is my opinion today. With the snow thick on the ground, and the cold trying to eat my sanity, this ‘quickie’ post will come to an end.
Do not vote Tory!
